At the 43rd Session of its Council of Foreign Ministers held on 18-19 October 2016, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) adopted a Resolution concerning the foiled coup attempt that took place in Turkey on 15 July 2016, perpetratedby an armed faction and their civilian collaborators belonging to the Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETO).

The OIC identified FETO as a terrorist organization, and called on the Member States to take every necessary measure against the entities and groups affiliated with FETO and to cooperate with Turkey to this end.
